The Trio, named in honour of the celebrated clarinettist Anton Stadler, reunites Janet Hilton, one of Britain’s foremost clarinettists with renowned viola player Robin Ireland, formerly of the famous Lindsay String Quartet. Virtuoso pianist, Sarah Beth Briggs, completes the trio.

We are delighted to welcome back the younger members of this extraordinarily talented family for yet another evening of music making. They have won many prizes and awards for their music, appeared in numerous television shows and played for royalty. Jeneba was category finalist in the BBC Young Musician 2018. Elizabeth is a graduate of the National Opera Studio and master of music from the GSMD.

She has won several prestigious awards including the Elizabeth Harwood and Kathleen Ferrier Young Singer’s award. 2018/9 sees exciting projects, including her debut at the ROH, ENO and WNO.

Huw is a RWCMD Junior Conservatoire student, member of the National Youth Orchestra Great Britain which performed at the Proms this year, a Gregynog Young Musician award winner and National Eisteddfod award winner. Greta, from Llanidloes, attended the Junior School at RAM, won a scholarship to Shrewsbury School in 2017 and begins at the RCM this September. Cerys attends the sixth form at Ysgol Bro Hyddgen and has delighted audiences here with her playing for some time. She plays with the Welsh Youth Folk Ensemble, AVANC and Ty Teires with Robin Huw Bowen.

“BEETHOVEN IN WALES”

Supported by PRS Foundation’s Women Make Music, The Colwinson Foundation and Ty Cerdd

This is the second in the concert series featuring all ten of Beethoven’s violin and piano sonatas with performances given in ten Music Clubs across Wales together with a commissioned work. The featured composer is the young Welsh composer Sarah Lianne Lewis who was inspired by the Sonata Op.30.No 2, and a letter Beethoven wrote to his brothers despairing over his increased deafness.

Danushka is from Loughborough, attends the Junior Department at RAM and is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Avishka is studying physics at Imperial College and music at the RCM. Simon, formerly a chorister at Lichfield Cathedral is studying at the RCS.

PIANO

Ellis is from Llandudno and overall winner, Gregynog Young Musician 2019. He has been a student of the RNCM Junior School and a soloist with both the Welsh Chamber Orchestra and the RNCN Symphony Orchestra. He has recently the won the Blue Ribbon for the Under 19 Instrumental Solo at the National Eisteddfod. Ellis has been awarded a scholarship to read music at Cambridge.
